The Illectrik Hoax

DJ Food's - The Illectrik Hoax (A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Mix by the Amorphous Androgynous) has not left the deck in my studio for the past month. I was lucky enough to have been given an advance copy and I just... can't... stop... playing it.

The blurb on the Ninja site reads: The next phase in the DJ Food story is the extraction and near complete annihilation of "The Illectrik Hoax" from his album The Search Engine by the Amorphous Androgynous (aka The Future Sound of London). The AA began work in the Autumn of 2011 and by the turn of the new year had turned in a 17 minute Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Mix that contained not one, not two, but three distinct 'tracks'.

As a fan of DJ Food's music since the classic Kaleidoscope album of the year 2000, I have also been an avid fan of The Future Sound of London since... well, since 1988 when they produced an album as Stakker called Humanoid, through 1991 and the Accelerator album featuring the classic ambient-dub Papua New Guinea and onwards to their incredible radio shows and Lifeforms, which we managed to plug pretty heavily in 2000AD at the time, alongside great images by Buggy G. Riphead.

Anyway, for me this is a perfect collaboration. Check out the vivid vinyl and the fabulous sleeve design and artwork by Openmind aka Strictly Kev, featuring samples from the album art by 2000AD's Henry Flint. If you want to have this in your life, click on this Ninja Tune Link asap...
